In What or Who Do We Have Confidence?
$$$
If money is an idea backed by confidence then we have to ask the question, Do we really have confidence in the idea of money or are we actually trying to have confidence in each other? Do we have confidence that the company we are working for or the business we run will bring us enough money to be able to provide for all our needs and wants? What about our confidence in the whole system of commerce we utilize?
I think we need to look at what backs up this idea. Do we have confidence in those who produce the money? Should the producers of the money be government? The Banks? Our community leaders? Us?
There is nothing inherently immoral, illegal, or wrong about the common people agreeing to what to use as money and then being responsible for its production. There is a little island off of the coast of France (the name escapes me for the moment) which uses its own currency to do its day to day business! The small but prosperous populous of this island has made their system work. They rely on each other within their monetary system for what they need to live and, somehow, they have everything they need to live good lives. I intend to do further research and post my findings here.
There was a time when people agreed to what to use for money and then they implemented this monetary system to everyone’s benefit. There was no outside interference from some other person or group of people telling them what to do as far as money goes.
The confidence we are lacking is not in our monetary system but in each other as individuals. Governments all over the world have dropped the ball as far as running a fair and just monetary system. The one that is in place now relies heavily on debt and credit. Without debt and credit there would be no money under the current system.
I hope this gives you, my reader, pause for thought and I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

I hate the debt-based monetary system we have right now. It’s exactly what made our forefather’s go to revolution in the first place.
Yes, I was reading about that yesterday. Benjamin Franklin was quoted as saying that, paraphrasing, when the people through the US government’s actions were no longer allowed to have control of their money, deflation set in quickly.
There are certain forces at work, it would seem, to keep us down.
